Udan Foundation, established in 2011, is a non-profit organization that empowers visually challenged individuals through sports, recreation, music, and skill development initiatives. We've conducted various initiatives, including medical aid, educational support, and cultural events.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when many were struggling, we conducted three online musical shows, featuring blind professional musicians and singers, to showcase their talent and provide them with opportunities. We also distributed ration kits to approximately 300 visually impaired and economically disadvantaged individuals.
In 2021, we established the Udaan Skill Development and Training Centre to provide training in manufacturing essentials like incense sticks, handwash, and phenyl, enabling individuals to become self-sufficient. This initiative was a beacon of hope for many who were struggling to find employment during the pandemic, especially our blind brothers and sisters who were worst hit.
To date, we've trained around 45 individuals at our centre, and 8-10 of them have been employed directly by us. Additionally, we've provided work orders to several others, enabling them to work from home and become self-dependent.
We promote and encourage blind talent, including musicians, singers, acrobatic performers, and dancers, through various events and shows. Our professional blind masseuses are invited to provide massage services at sports tournaments, birthday parties, and corporate events, providing them with employment opportunities.
Udan Foundation is registered with Niti Aayog, Government of India, and holds 80G and 12(A) certifications, as well as CSR-1 certification. Our aim is to provide a platform for blind individuals to showcase their talents, promoting their independence and empowerment.
As we continue our journey, we appeal to everyone to support us in our endeavour to empower blind talent and provide them with opportunities to showcase their skills. Together, we can make a difference.
